FAQ on return to In-Person Learning HERE.

Biggest changes:

  • New hours for all
    • In-person learning requires shifting our day slightly for all learners
    • Hours are shifting to make sure teachers have adequate time for planning in this new environment. Due to the increased need to plan for remote and in-person learners AND the need for additional and extensive cleaning, we have prioritized teacher planning time with our new schedule in order for our students to get the most out of each day.
    • Much planning has gone into our new day as we have many additional guidelines to follow to keep our children and adults safe. For instance, teachers can only be in contact with two cohorts a day, and cohorts can only have 4 teachers a day. In between a teacher’s engagement with a new cohort mandates 72 hours. These stipulations have made it impossible for us to provide specials in person at this time. Specials teachers will be providing support to classroom teachers while in-person.
    • Specials classes will take place after the in-person school day (after 3pm) and will be participated in asynchronously. We know this is not ideal, but it is a necessary adjustment to make sure we have adults supporting our classrooms in a safe and healthy manner.
    • Transportation schedules have also dictated what our new hours can be.
    • Remember: Please complete your child’s health screening at home EVERY day before coming to school: from CDPHE: English | Español

  • K-2 In-Person Hours:
    • 9am-3pm, Monday-Thursday (this includes breakfast upon arrival)
    • 9am-1pm, Friday (this includes breakfast upon arrival)
    • Asynchronous specials will take place outside of these hours.

  • 3-5 In-Person Hours:
    • 9:10am-3:10pm, Monday-Thursday (this includes breakfast upon arrival)
    • 9:10am-1:10pm, Friday (this includes breakfast upon arrival)
    • Asynchronous specials will take place outside of these hours.

    • 3-5 – 9:25am-3:55pm (this allows for in-person transition/breakfast time, this includes afternoon specials)
    • K-2 Fridays: 9:15am-1:45pm
    • 3-5 Fridays: 9:25am-1:55pm
    • Remote learners will receive a new schedule on Monday, September 28th.

  • Students will retain their current teacher (with the exception of 2nd Grade who will receive additional information closer to their return date)
    • Remote learners will be live-streamed into class, continue to participate in their asynchronous learning, and continue to receive small group instruction over Zoom
    • In-person learners, please be sure to bring to school:
    • any materials you’ve been given by your teacher
    • your Chromebook
    • any remaining school supplies

  • Per DPS mandate, cohorts must remain under 35 students. At this time, our largest cohort is 22. Most in-person classes are under 20.
    • Kinder: Class sizes of 22 or under
    • 1st Grade: Class sizes of 18 or under
    • 2nd Grade: Class sizes of 16 or under
    • 3rd Grade: Class sizes of 16 or under
    • 4th Grade: Class size under 10
    • 5th Grade: Class size or 10 or under
    • 4/5 Split: Class size of 17 or under
    • If you have not yet, please take this survey to make sure we are adapting our instruction and schedules to best suit our community.

Additional information:

  • Teacher Preparation Day: Thursday, September 24th will now be an ASYNCHRONOUS learning day (no live instruction) for students in K-1 while their teachers are preparing classrooms.
  • There is NO SCHOOL for all students on Monday, September 28th.
  • Families: it is our duty to keep our children and staff safe. Please be mindful of your interactions outside of school and continue to practice social distancing and mask-wearing so that our classrooms can be safe spaces for everyone.
  • As our students are now using the field, please remember that dogs are not allowed. We understand many community members utilize the space for their dogs, and it is difficult to enforce the prohibition, but we’ve had an issue with people not cleaning up after their pets. Please encourage your neighbors to be responsible.

  • Meals are still being provided free of charge to all kids – stop by our front lawn 11am-1pm Monday-Friday. Students in K/1 will begin receiving their meals in the classroom.

What major changes can I expect?

  • K-1 In-Person Learning Start Date: K-1 students that selected in-person learning will begin returning to the building on Tuesday, September 29th. This will be a gradual, phased-in start, meaning 1/3 of students will attend on Tuesday, 1/3 on Wednesday, and 1/3 on Thursday before they all join us on Friday, October 2nd. Remote learners will engage in asynchronous learning next week until Friday as we begin this transition. Independent activities will be posted on SeeSaw. Our priority for week 1 is a safe return to school to teach students who are in person all of the new systems and structures in order to set up the most successful learning environment for all of our students both in the building and at home.
