State Testing Info for 2017
Dear 3rd-5th Grade Families,
Your student will be taking the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) Literacy assessments on March 20, 21, and 22. Math (3rd-5th grades) and Science (5th grade only) assessments will be given in April. These assessments focus on the knowledge and skills our kids need for success in our global economy, and will give our teachers critical information to help our students be on track for college and career readiness and help us understand whether our students have the necessary skills to succeed after high school.
You can support your student’s success by doing the following:
- Talk to your child about the importance of doing his/her best on these assessments.
- Make sure your student is at school and on time every day. We will begin testing at 9:00, and students who are late or absent will have to take the assessment at a later time during a make-up session. Students do best when they are in their classroom environment, so please help us make this possible.
- Please do not schedule appointments on testing days. Once students start a test session, they need to complete it in one sitting. Students cannot leave a test session once they have started it.
- Only trained school employees can be in the classroom during testing. Signs will be posted on classroom doors when students are testing, so please do not enter a classroom if you see a Do Not Disturb sign on the door.
We appreciate your support during this time. Assessments, including CMAS as well as those taken throughout the year, are vital tools for teachers to support student success. There are online resources to help parents and families support their student during CMAS testing, located at standards.dpsk12.org.
