Dear Stedman Families:
The Stedman PTA is excited to announce the launch of the digital Stedman Newsletter coming to you next week! This new digital format will support increased access to school information as there will be no papers to get lost in transit, it will be accessible by phone, tablet or computer and will support timely access to information. If your family is in need of a paper copy of the newsletter, please fill out the attached information. Thursday folders will continue to go home weekly for fliers and activities, etc.
PARCC testing is going extremely well thanks to the hard work of our teachers and the collaboration with families who are doing a great job having students here on time with regular attendance daily.
The winner of the March bicycle for perfect attendance is Zoe Miller. The Perfect Attendance prize for April is a summer pass to Elitch Gardens, donated by Ms. Romero. Keep up the great attendance, everyone! Congratulations, Zoe!
The CSC has been working on Guiding Principles and Goals to align the work of this year’s CSC with the work that will be done by those voted in for the 2016-2017 CSC. It has been a fun and thoughtful process. What has surfaced for me has been how much our parent community cares about our teachers and the tremendous growth our community has made in working together in support of the school over the past year.
Ms. McClelland will return from her maternity leave at the end of the month. Please be sure to welcome her back and to thank Mr. Moore for his great work as our long term Music sub. Ms. McClelland has a new job as the music teacher at Park Hill Elementary next year. We will miss her greatly, but are happy to announce that Mr. Moore will be returning to Stedman in August as our new music teacher. I am so happy that we have a teacher coming in who the staff and students already know and love. We are in the process of hiring a new art teacher, as Ms. Kevlyn has taken a full time position next year. We have several great candidates in the process of interviewing.
The next few weeks are filled with fun events and activities. Please support our staff by reminding your students to stay strong and focused through the end of the school year. In addition to all the fun, we still have 8 weeks of important learning ahead of us.
- Come to our talent show fundraiser, “Stedman’s Got Talent”, on April 14th at 6pm. See performances by students, staff, and parents (interested parents please contact the main office or your student’s teacher). This will be a very fun event: adults are $1, children are free.
- Join us for Bones and Tones Saturday, April 23rd from noon to 3pm. Our PTA is hard at work planning a fun event for our community. Each classroom will sponsor a booth/activity. Please see your child’s teacher to find out how you can help! We greatly appreciate families planning for both time to enjoy the event with their children and doing their part as a volunteer. There are opportunities to help with set-up, clean-up and the running of the event.
- We have three exciting residencies in April which will all be showcased at the May 11th “Celebration of Student Voice” at 6pm. This event will showcase other work from across the school, our boys mentoring program and our Stedman Singers. Save the date and look for more details to come.
Residencies
We have two residencies funded by the A-Z Grant via Think360Arts. Mr. Williams class and Ms. Romero’s class will participate. The grant was open to the whole school; these two teachers opted in.
- Mr. Williams: 4-day Theatre residency in connection with his poetry unit.

- Ms. Romero: 4-day visual arts residency with sculptor Eric Dallimore in connection with their archaeological “Dig It” unit. Dates are: April 12-15 at 2pm

- “Stedman Speaks”: Grades 1-5 residency via La Napoule Art Foundation in collaboration with spoken word artist Adrian Molina aka Molina Speaks. This residency is about inspiring writing and student voice. Dates: April 18, 21, 25, and 26

Estimadas familias: Stedman
?El PTA de Stedman se complace en anunciar que el lanzamiento del Boletín digital de Stedman estara desponible la proxima semana! Este nuevo formato digital sera compatible con un mayor acceso a la información de la escuela ya que no habrá ningún documento que se pierde en tránsito, será accesible por teléfono, tableta u computadora y apoyará el acceso oportuno a la información. Si su familia necesita una copia imprimida del boletín, por favor complete la información abajo. Las carpetas de los jueves continuarán yendo a casa cada semana para mandar informacion sobre actividades, etc.
Las pruebas PARCC van muy bien gracias al trabajo duro de nuestros maestros y la colaboración con las familias que están haciendo un gran trabajo con los asegurando que sus hijos esten aquí a tiempo diario.
ILa ganadora de la bicicleta de marzo para la asistencia perfecta es Zoe Miller! El premio de asistencia perfecta para abril es un pase de verano para Elitch Gardens, donado por la señora Romero. ITodos sigan con la buen asistencia! IFelicidades Zoe!
El CSC ha estado trabajando sobre los principios y objetivos básicos para alinear el trabajo del CSC de este año con el trabajo que se va a hacer por aquellos votados para el CSC 2016-2017 . Ha sido un proceso divertido y reflexivo. Lo que ha salido a la superficie para mí ha sido la cantidad de nuestra comunidad de padres que se preocupa por nuestros maestros y el tremendo crecimiento de nuestra comunidad que han apoyado nuestra escuela durante este ultimo año.
La Sra McClelland regresara de su ausencia de maternidad al final del mes . Por favor asegúrese de darle la bienvenida y las gracias al Sr. Moore por su gran obra como nuestro substituto de Música de largo plazo. La Sra McClelland tiene ha aceptado una nueva posicion como profesora de música en la escuela Park Hill para el próximo año. La vamos a extrañar mucho, pero estamos felices de anunciar que el Sr. Moore va a regresar a Stedman en agosto como nuestro nuevo profesor de música. Estoy muy feliz que tendremos un maestro que el personal y los estudiantes ya conosen y adoran . Estamos en el proceso de contratar a un nuevo profesor de arte, como la Sra Kevlyn ha tomado una posición a tiempo completo el año que viene. Tenemos varios grandes candidatos en el proceso de la entrevista.
Las próximas semanas se llenan de eventos y actividades divertidas . Por favor apoye nuestro personal recordando a sus estudiantes a mantenerse fuerte y enfocado a través del final del año escolar. Además de toda la diversión, todavía tenemos 8 semanas de aprendizaje importante por delante.
- Los invitamos a nuestro programa de talentos de recaudación de fondos”Stedman Got Talent “, el 14 de abril a las 6 pm. Vegan a ver las actuaciones de los estudiantes, de personal y padres (los padres interesados en participar, ??póngase en contacto con la oficina principal o maestro de su hijo). Este será un evento muy divertido: se cobrara $1 para adultos, los niños entraran gratis.
- Únase a nosotros para nuestra recaudación de fondos “Bones and Tones” el 23 de abril de las 12:00pm hasta las 3 pm. Nuestro PTA está trabajando duro planeando un evento divertido para nuestra comunidad. Cada salón patrocinará planeara una actividad. ?Por favor, vea el maestro de su hijo para averiguar cómo puede ayudar! Agradecemos enormemente las familias la planificación tanto tiempo para que disfrute del evento con sus hijos y para hacer su parte como voluntario. Hay oportunidades para voluntarios que ayuden antes del evento, la limpieza despues y el jente que ayude con las actividades.
- Tenemos tres residencias emocionantes en abril, que todo será exhibido en 11 de mayo “Celebracion de las Voces de Estudiantes” a las 6 pm . Este evento será un escaparate de otro trabajo de toda la escuela, nuestro programa de tutoría y nuestros cantantes Stedman . Guarde la fecha y busque más informacion.
Residencias
Tenemos dos residencias financiadas por la A- Z Grant vía Think360Arts. La clase del Sr. Williams y la clase de la Sra. Romero participarán. La subvención estaba abierto a toda la escuela; estos dos profesores optaron en participar en el programa .
